How To Clean A Computer Registry
Everyone knows the longer you use your computer the slower it gets. Installing and/or removing software and hardware leaves a lot of unneeded information in your registry. Cleaning out that excess from your registry can immediately speed up your computer and stop any unwanted errors from occurring.
The Windows registry is like a directory that saves settings for you operation system as well as information for your hardware and software that is installed on your computer. When software or hardware is installed or removed some information in the registry is left. This information takes up space and sometimes confuses the operating system.
Having too much unneeded information in your registry can cause two problems. It will slow down your computer. I have a lot of people ask me “why is my computer so slow?”. I ask them when is the last time you cleaned your registry. I usually get a blank stare like they have no idea what I'm talking about. Doing so is a quick way to speed up your computer to “first day I bought it” speed.
Also having too much unneeded registry information can cause system errors. This usually requires you fix corrupt registry entries. The blue screen of death and other fatal errors can be attributed to corrupt registry entries.
To keep your Windows registry clean I recommend installing the best registry software you can find. You want a registry cleaner that you tell the difference between unneeded registry entries and entries that you actually need. It will also need to remove broken application paths, missing DLL's and unused file extensions. But the most important is that your software makes a backup of your registry before any changes are made.
